PASCAM WoodWorks
user can rely on various, self-defined data-based design libraries to ensure
an individual, yet economic
product design, according to the customer requirements. The key feature
of all PASCAM design libraries is that the user will enter the database
information only once and 'en passant' - just by proceeding the conventional design process.
User-friendly data
entry dialogs are available to enable safe and easy data entry.
Users of PASCAM WoodWorks can
access these self-provided design libraries easily in subsequent design tasks to
generate customized assemblies very quick and safely, applying the user
generated data-base items. The PASCAM design
libraries are providing an optimally adapted engineering and
productivity tool to the users needs. The purpose of this
standardization is the methodological simplification of recurring
engineering processes, the definition of company-specific best practices
and setting of minimum standards, simplifying the information process
between different design teams, the trouble-free exchange of design
components and the consequent reduction in costs by reducing the
specific design effort of customized products.
Because of the open data-base
structure an user generated, company-specific content is provided, which exceeds the
conventional design and engineering databases of existing CAD systems,
where the user is subject to sporadic database updates by the software company,
often lacking in practical relevance for the specific design tasks of
the individual woodworking companies.
Another advantage is the option to provide the
content of the PASCAM design libraries to all employees involved in the
design process via a server-based, company-wide access where the user
permissions are managed centrally. This approach enables standardized,
knowledge-based design processes, based on company specific 'best
practices' and design principles.
The following PASCAM databases and design
libraries are available for the user:
- Part database with
PASCAM Part description and
automated modifications for the
application in new assemblies
-
Hardware
component database to manage and apply automatically wood-specific
hardware components
-
Edge
database to manage and automatically apply profile features, e.g.
for mouldings, cornices at new parts/assemblies
-
Database
of woodworking joints for the quick, automated assembly of
furniture assemblies by wood-specific connections
-
Material
database for the quick, automated exchange of coating materials
and laminates, such as veneer
