To examine the fascinating
possibilities for the woodworking companies offered by the new techniques based
on SolidWorks® a master thesis was
elaborated in cooperation with the University of Applied Sciences (FH)
Rosenheim, Germany (Prof. Laika and Prof. Engl) and our sales partner MBCAD.
Parts of the results for the
construction and production
are summarized here.
Essential improvements when using
PASCAM
Bea are:
PASCAM software is developed due to the specific
design and
manufacturing requirements of the woodworking trade. In connection
with SolidWorks® it offers the user a level of productivity and efficiency like no
other of the examined standard woodworking CAD programs on the market. In comparison between a stand-alone SolidWorks®
installation and the additional use of
PASCAM
Bea "on top" a more efficient, higher rate of automation
can be realized. The results of the master thesis show a time-saver of about 50%. In addition,
it has turned out, that by use of PASCAM software the results in the existential
economic aspects:

quick productivity increase

lasting error minimization

lasting cost minimization
-
lasting time-to-market reduction
is being improved significantly.
Apart from salient temporal
advantages (data for
machining strategies can be re-used very safe and easily
and has to be defined and entered only once and doesn't have to be converted),
substantial improvements become apparent at construction safety, error
minimization, of achieving customer presentation and additional
manufacturing information such as exploded views or films for assembly
instructions etc.
